Aurora province is served by four (4) public hospitals namely: Aurora Memorial Hospital in Baler, Casiguran District Hospital, Medicare Hospital in Maria Aurora and District Hospital in Dingalan. These hospitals have a combined bed capacity of 75.

In addition, Rural Health Units (RHU) were established in the eight (8) municipalities of the province to support the various health programs of the Department of Health. Health Centers are also available in all barangays throughout the province.

Municipal hospitals like Casiguran District Hospital will be upgraded to 50 bed capacity. Likewise, Maria Aurora Medicare Hospital and Dingalan District Hospital will be upgraded to 25 bed capacity and shall be provided with additional hospital equipment and other priority needs.

To ensure effective delivery of health services, upgrading of Aurora Provincial Hospital from 25 bed capacity to 100-bed capacity will be undertaken. This will be supplemented by improvement or construction of additional buildings, purchase of modern equipment and other health facilities that will benefit the public in the delivery of health services.

Maternal Mortality Rate (MMR) measures maternity-related death among women during pregnancy, childbirth, and postpartum except those accidents or incidental causes. In 2002, MMR was registered at 1.98 maternal deaths for every 1,000 live births.
