The Province of Aurora was hailed High Value Crops Development Program (HVCDP) Outstanding Performing Province for the year 2019 of the Department of Agriculture Region III. A plaque of recognition was given together with a P3M peso worth of project/s last December 5, 2019 at Sitio Macaloc, Barangay Lourdes, Minalin, Pampanga. Aurora bested the seven (7) provinces in Region III. Criteria for judging includes submission of requested reports; quarterly accomplishment reports; signed master lists; and planting and harvesting reports.
Moreover, Aurora Provincial Agriculturist Arnold B. Novicio received the Outstanding Provincial Agriculturist Award; while Ms. Nelita K. Abordo received the Outstanding HVCDP Coordinator Award and Ms. Jarica C. Padilla received Outstanding Report Officer Award. In addition to the said awards, Ms. Estrella R. Gomez received recognition for her service as Aurora Province HVCDP Banana Coordinator for eight (8) years.
The HVCDP is one of the banner programs of the Department of Agriculture developed to achieve self-sufficiency in vegetables implemented through Republic Act 7900 or the High Value Crops Development (HVCD) Act of 1995. The HVCD Act of 1995 aims to help address food security, poverty and sustainable growth through the promotion of production, processing, marketing and distribution of high value crops.
