Aurora Province can be reached via two road networks-Maria Aurora-Pantabangan Road and Baler-Bongabon Road. Genesis Transport Buses with terminals in Manila and Cubao offer daily morning trips to Baler. Travel time is approximately 4-6 hours.
Provincial Buses and Vans-for-rent stationed at the Cabanatuan Central Terminal offer daily trips to Dingalan, Baler and Dilasag. Travel time is 2 hours, 4 hours and 8 hours respectively.
One can take a bus, jeepney or a rented van to navigate the province’s nature and culture destinations. For short distance travel, the ubiquitous tricycle is an inexpensive and practical alternative. Motor boats can be rented from the local fisher folks for bay tours and diving sessions.
The Maria Aurora Outdoors Club (MAOC, the Aurora Surf Riders Associaltion (ASRAI) and Accredited tour guides of the Aurora Provincial Tourism Office offer adventure tours for back packers and outdoor enthusiasts. The Baler Historical Committee organizes guided tours for their guest upon request.
WHERE TO STAY
A host of tourist facilities can be found in the capital town of Baler, most of which offer standard rooms and food service. During peak seasons, several private residence make their extra rooms available to tourist. Camping is also an option.
DINING AND ENTERTAINMENT
For a fun filed night-out, one can choose from variety of establishments along entertainment strips in Sabang Beach, the center of nightlife in the province. Most f the accommodation in the area offer menus of Filipino and continental far. Aurora’s gustatory attractions-fresh seafood and exotic fruits and vegetables are available on request.
After dinner, get into the groove with nightly live performance at Bistro Baler, Freddie’s Place and Maharajah. For those who fancy singing, several KTV bars are also located in the area.
SHOPPING AND SOUVENIRS
A good source of unique souvenir ideas is the pasalubong Center located at the Baler Public Market Complex, right next to the Central Transport Terminal. It offers a wide selection of Aurora-made products ranging from sabutan crafts, woodcarvings, souvenir shirts, home and holiday decor, fashion accessories, and gift items.
Aurora’s signature food products such as Casiguran coco-wine, atsara, chitcharong kibit, virgin coconut oil, peanut butter, and coco jam are also available.
